J73MAD Repeater Maintenance Pictures February 2006

This is the maintenance crew that repaired the J73MAD repeater installation on Morne au Diable. Acompanied by Members of the Dominica Cadet Corps and some longtime Members of the Mountain Crew, some of whom were at that site some 6 years ago.We left Roseau at 4:30 AM and made our way North along the West Coast Road.

We found the repeater site to be very overgrown with weeds. The battery cable had corroded and disconnected from the battery bank. The new sealed bank will solve that problem (no corrosion) .

The installation needed to be cleaned of oxidation and corrosion and the new battery bank and solar controller connected. This photo shows the solar panels tilted up to expose the batteries.

The view is great, but it takes a while to get there - especially with all the tools and replacement parts.
